Keith Brierley

Keith Brierley, Senior Advisor at Environment Agency will join our panel of experts at the upcoming “ESOS Implementation" evening event on 8th October. This CBx Evening event will shine a spotlight on industry uptake of the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme. We will hear from Keith Brierley, Senior Advisor at the Environment Agency, on the implementation of ESOS so far and learning outcomes from the process. University College London will present research on Energy Audits in complex buildings and finally, the speakers will be joined by Industry Experts for a panel discussion which will explore the ESOS process alongside challenges and opportunities identified so far.

Keith has worked in the chemical industry for 18 years (1977-95) in a variety of technical and managerial roles.  In 1995 he joined the HM Pollution Inspectorate as an area inspector in Southern Region.  Following the formation of the Environment Agency (1996) he has worked in a variety of roles in industry regulation until 2005.  He then switched to working on the climate change trading regimes.  His emissions trading experience includes the EU Emissions Trading System and the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.  He is now the EA’s Environment and Business Senior Advisor for the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme. He has a degree in chemistry from Nottingham University.

On the day Keith will give an update on the implementation of the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme.  It will include who qualifies, timescales for compliance and the  latest figures on notifications of compliance.   He will also cover our enforcement approach for ESOS.  The latter has been the subject of recent speculation in the media and other forums.
