Demand side response (DSR)  is about intelligent energy use; helping ensure a secure, sustainable and affordable electricity system. The suite of DSR schemes is where businesses are financially incentivised to lower or shift their electricity use at peak times, helping to manage load and voltage profiles on the electricity network.

The roll out of smart meters to over 53 million supplies is providing significant granular data about how and when energy is being consumed. This data supports various DSR approaches. Analysis of consumption profiles can help to alter when energy is used to target non-peak hours. Such an approach has not only a financial benefit, but also affects the carbon footprint and improves energy security.

Join us for breakfast to hear our speakers discuss the approaches and technical implications of DSR, the impact and benefits to the end user, and how flexibility can enable the National Grid to balance the UK’s changing energy landscape in a cost-effective way.
